Mountain West Architecture was commissioned to redesign the exterior of Murdoch’s Evanston, Wyoming location. Wasatch West Contracting is the general contractor on this project. The store was originally built for Walmart back in the ’80s and had an outdated, simple exterior. MWA worked through several options with the owner and landed on one that transforms the exterior. Murdoch’s had a need for more covered exterior palette storage and display. The design solution affordably solves that need with a continuous canopy which spans the length of the large facade.
The center, main entry element was completely redesigned to use several materials in a way that gives Murdoch’s the look they wanted, that resonates with their branding. Much of the remodel is framed in structural steel clad in masonry. The circulation through the entry element was changed for easy flow into and from the building. The project features a design that enhances Murdoch’s image and appearance.
