The American Institute of Architects is a national organization with over 80,000 members worldwide. AIA Utah, a Chapter of the American Institute of Architects, promotes positive change through the power of design, and has over 680 members statewide. There are three Sections: Northern, Central, and Southern, where they conduct local business and provide relevant education.
Each year, the AIA seeks volunteers for their board of directors at the state and section level. Mark Hilles was nominated and voted into office by the membership at the Northern Section annual meeting, where members of the Northern Section gather every year to recap their accomplishments, set goals, and elect new leaders.
His term will last three years total – last year he was President-Elect, this year he is President, and next year, he will be Immediate Past President. As President, he is responsible for holding monthly meetings of the Section Board of Directors, setting priorities and the calendar, and he is there to listen to the concerns and needs of Northern Section members to communicate back to the State Board of Directors for action.
We are proud of Mark’s leadership role and congratulate him on his success!
